Simultaneous Interpretation
(U.N. Style)
The highest level of spoken interpretation, it is usually critical
for larger multilingual meetings and conferences.
Simultaneous interpreters require special equipment which allows them to hear the speaker directly through headsets. From a soundproof booth, interpreters immediately translate (simultaneous translation) into the target language, transmitting to audience members wearing receivers.
This requires two interpreters per language. We have high quality equipment to meet your simultaneous interpretation needs.
Consecutive Interpreting
This type of interpreting is very flexible and perfect for board meetings, seminars, technical tours, on-site facility tours and negotiations.
This involves the presenters saying one or two sentences, pausing while the interpreter repeats in another language, and the process continues.
Whispering
Essentially the same as Simultaneous Interpreting, Whispering requires the same skill level, but does not use full equipment.
- Usually limited to 2-3 listeners, unless portable equipment is used.
- Listeners must stay close to the interpreter in order to hear.
- Conditions must be appropriate for the interpreter to hear the speaker over his/her own voice (either sitting near the speaker or listening to the speaker via a portable receiver with headphones
Simultaneous Interpreters, Simultaneous Interpretation, and Simultaneous Interpreting Equipment
IPI provides professional international interpretation services specializing in simultaneous interpretation anywhere in the U.S.A. or the world, with an emphasis on the Southeast United States. Our highly trained professional linguists are available for any multilingual event, from intimate board meetings to major global conferences. We have every major language covered from Japanese interpreters to a large staff of highly qualified Spanish simultaneous interpreters. All of our simultaneous interpreters are graded level A by associations such as the American Association on Language Specialists (TAALS) and the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC). Our own stringent quality control standards require our simultaneous interpreters to meet United Nations and U.S. State Department standards. Our highly sought after Spanish interpreters know the difference between different idiomatic expressions from region to region in the Latino culture. Our French interpreters are largely native to France and have a strong understanding of the French culture as well. And of course, without question, our German interpreters know how the business world works in the European market places — so you won't have to second guess their abilities.
